    I'd much rather be able to fly. Reading minds would make me paranoid and most likely ruin more relationships than it's worth. Plenty of people occasionally stumble across extremely impropriate thoughts of all sorts that's nothing remotely close to what you want or really feel. Those are the thoughts I don't want even accidently stumble upon, since it'd make me paranoid in the end. It'd make a few things easier, but so does conversating. Especially within a relationship - just talk. It's not that hard. Flying however, now that's harder to achieve than being able to share the mind of someone. Just work up the confidence for the mind part.
