Questions Christians and creationists can't answer (round four, tournament three). If today, a devote group of Christian men were to enter a neighboring town and slaughter all who lived there because it was reported that the residents were largely populated by those who didn’t worship the Christian God, would that be justified? What if those Christians believed God had commanded them to do so? And what if God’s command included that women, children and infants be slaughtered by the sword? Since such events are recorded in the Old Testament, is it accurate to describe the God of the Old Testament as loving, merciful and good? You are staying at a hotel for a night. You have just arrived, and are upstairs, in your room, unpacking. A few hours later, you hear a knock at the door, but no voice, which implies that isn't housekeeping. You look through the peephole and see a dirty, underdressed, almost homeless-looking man. He knocks again, this time, louder. You decide not to let him in. An hour or two later, you decide to get some sleep. You wake up in the middle of the night, and look at the clock. You are expecting it to say three in the morning, but it was actually only twenty to one. You had only been asleep for half an hour. Then, you hear a very loud bang at your window. It takes you a few seconds to connect this to the man at the door. You are getting very nervous, yet you somehow reassure yourself that you're safe. Around ten or fifteen minutes later, you hear a faint clicking noise. You turn off the TV- the only source of light in the room. Now it's pitch black. You look around, and see someone at the door. The figure emerges out of the darkness. It was the man again. "I just need a warm place to spend the night", he said. You had no choice but to push him out of the room. He was very weak and thin, and easy to overpower. He tries to fight and resist, but he's too weak. This man is undoubtedly crazy- You could see it in his eyes. You throw him out of the room and shut the door. You call security and tell them everything. You wait for them near the door where the man had picked the lock to get in. Out of nowhere, the man aggressively charges at you. He catches you off-guard, making you vulnerable to a few hits with a piece of sharpened iron. You are bleeding heavily, and are unable to move. The man runs down the corridor and out of the building. What do you do next? *Comments* or *Doesn't comment, keeps scrolling* 1 year ago 51 votes 14 comments 0 likes

You are staying at a hotel for a night. You have just arrived, are upstairs, in your room, unpacking. Everyone else in the hotel seems nice and friendly, except for one- the person next door. You rarely see him enter or exit the room, he's always a mess, and every question you ask him always leads to dry, one word responses. Generally speaking, he just seems to give off an unsettling vibe. Fortunately, the hotel you're staying in has a swimming pool, and you go there later that day. When you are there, you see someone sitting on a chair at the edge of the pool, and you recognize him instantly- the person next door. He definitely isn't there to swim, because he's wearing a hoodie and jeans, and he's just sitting there, watching your every move. Five minutes later, he was still there, so you leave. Five minutes after you arrive back to your room, you hear a knock at the door, followed by a voice yelling, "Housekeeping!". But you don't answer the door, because you recognize the low, raspy smoker's voice- it's the person next door. You look through the peephole, and see that he doesn't have any towels. At this point, you know for sure he wants to come in for a very sinister reason. What do you do? *Comments* or *Doesn't comment, keeps scrolling* 1 year ago 58 votes 17 comments 0 likes

There is no life form that can live eternally. The human body, for example, as of now, can barely even last a century before it breaks down, and most other life forms only live for slightly longer or shorter. As for the timelessness part, well, this is pretty obvious. You just can't be timeless, to put it simply. 6 months ago
It's impossible to be timeless and eternal. That is scientifically impossible. 6 months ago
Something can come from nothing we see it happening all the time. Many types of molecules and particles seemingly come into existence from nothing. If it is possible for these to come from nothing, how can you say with certainty that the universe didn't come from nothing. 7 months ago
The point I'm trying to make still remains: There is no way of knowing which religion is the right one and therefore no way of knowing which one to follow. 8 months ago

I mean it makes no sense in scientific terms. Having the mind of a man in the body of a woman or vice-versa breaks the laws of nature. If you're born with male genitals, you should have the mind of a man, right? Therefore, wouldn't it be correct to say that being transgender is not natural, and therefore, could be classified as a mental illness. 9 months ago
Being incapable of reproducing is good if you want to have sex without pro-creating, which makes perfect sense. Transgenderism makes it impossible for people to reproduce but also makes no sense. 10 months ago

You're still ignoring something important: As I mentioned previously, most Liberals can't even tell when theists are actually forcing their beliefs onto others. For example, if a Muslim commits a hate crime against gays, Liberals don't care, but if a Christian politely disagrees with same-sex relationships, Liberals will bash the entire religion. But that's irrelevant. The point still remains: there is nothing wrong with people practicing their religion in front of others. I'm an atheist, but I have no problem with people praying or quoting their religious text in public. As long as they don't force it onto others, it's completely fine. 10 months ago
That argument could easily be reversed. By using the same logic, atheists and agnostics should also be keeping their beliefs to themselves. But they don't. And they have the nerve to chastsise theists for the exact same thing that they are guilty of. Besides, these library crybabies that go apesh*t at any mention of religion in public don't even know when people are ACTUALLY forcing their beliefs onto others. A Muslim terrorist can run into a crowd of people and start shooting at them while screaming "Allahu Akbar" and Liberals will still defend the religion, but if a Christian mentions God in public it's "shoving your religion down our throats!". And while I do agree that indoctrination of children without the child's consent is wrong, I still believe that religion should be taught in schools from a cultural historical viewpoint, by which I mean it should be taught because of its importance in history and its cultural significance. And while we're on the subject of whether or not people should keep their religion private, I'd like to point out something I think we can both agree on: People should keep their sex lives to themselves. Right? But take a look at what happens every June. A bunch of half-naked people f***ing each other in public and then acting surprised if anyone asks them to stop. 10 months ago
Okay, but first there's just this thing I need to understand: People like you (and I use that term loosely) are constantly saying that religion should only be practiced in private and that any mention of anything remotely related to religion in public is "forcing your religion down our throats" but at the same time, parading your sex life up and down public streets is fine? And besides, there's no harm in praying or quoting a religious text in public. As long as you do it in such a way that you aren't ACTUALLY forcing your beliefs onto others it's fine. 10 months ago
You seem to harbour an intense hatred towards religion. Why? 10 months ago
I said that I believe it to be a mental illness because it makes no sense. Contraception makes perfect sense as it allows you to have sex without getting pregnant. Transgenderism makes no sense. 10 months ago +1
I said there's no evidence proving it's a real thing. And I believe it to be a mental illness because it isn't natural and makes no sense. 10 months ago +2
Being gay is a real thing that has been biologically proven. Transgenderism is not. That's what I was referring to. 10 months ago +2

The death penalty and weapon ownership are traditional Christian rituals, which causes a lot of alt-left people to say that banning both of those things is justifiable simply because they are religious, and in the eyes of an alt-leftist, anything even remotely related to religion is bad. I haven't played it yet. Hopefully RDR 2 will fix all the problems I had with the original RDR. 11 months ago
This was everything I said in my review: "Most overrated game of all time, hands down. I have no idea how RDR manages to receive so much praise when it does almost everything wrong. The controls are clunky and awkward (John Marston controls like a tank). My biggest problem with the controls is that you have to spam a single button to sprint. Why? There's. no reason why a feature like that should exist in ANY game. Moving on, let's talk about its gameplay. The gameplay is generic, repetitive, and uninspired. 99% of the gameplay is running and gunning, which make it no different to 99% of first/third person shooters on the market right now. The few missions that don't entirely consist of running and gunning are either boring tailing missions or fetching quests. And now, without a doubt, the game's biggest flaw: The story. The entire RDR narrative template can be summarised as follows: Find a NPC, spend twenty hours doing favours for them, and then they will provide you with a TINY hint of progress towards your goal. Repeat this cycle ad nauseum for fifty hours, and you have RDR's story. And now, undoubtedly one of the game's biggest flaws: the lack of the ability to swim. Why can't you swim? It's such a basic feature that any sandbox shooter should have. To. are it even worse, Rockstar rubs in the fact that you can't swim by using bodies of water as a way of stopping you from accessing later parts of the game. So annoying. And finally, the graphics: They looked like ****, even for 2010. It might have been acceptable for the 360 and PS3 but come on, people, have some standards." 11 months ago

What about the Conservative douche who says that illegal immigrants are somehow taking jobs from real Americans despite the fact that real Americans are too lazy to get up off their fat asses and actually take the jobs themselves? Or the Liberal douche who calls you a woman-hating Nazi if you think that people could function perfectly fine without the option to legally get an infinite amount of abortions at any stage of pregnancy for any reason? Or the Liberal douche who calls you a facist if you disagree with something pointless and stupid that was recently invented? Or the Conservative douche who says that you're "coming to take everyone's guns away" if you suggest that it is possible to function perfectly fine without thirty round clipazines? 11 months ago +1
Biologically, there are two sexes (male and female) but politically, there are three: male, female, and non-binary. I don't think transgender ism is a mental illness, but claiming to "identify" as something other than male or female in blatant disregard for the fact that you are still either male or female is just stupid. I fully support LGBT+ rights, except for the T. 11 months ago +1
Having a racial preference is not racist, similar to the way in which it is not racist to only be attracted to one sex. However, as long as you remain open to the possibility of dating a member of another race, you're not racist, but if you have a racial preference and because of this refuse to date any members of other races, that would be racism. 11 months ago
I would as well, but I don't because I don't make these tests nor am I involved with the people that do. 11 months ago
Physical tests about firearm safety are designed to test your competence and ability when it comes to safely handling firearms, as well as testing your cognitive abilities in the same way. It's important that you note the difference between theory and reality. If you can pass a written test about firearm safety, then you, IN THEORY, can most likely handle firearms safely. However, the only way to be sure of this IN REALITY is to actually try to safely handle real firearms (this implies a physical test). 11 months ago
You can fail if you aren't responsible enough and therefore can't safely operate a gun. You can also fail if, like I said, you have a severe mental illness. 11 months ago
As I previously stated, another way of making it harder for the wrong types of people to get guns is to make it mandatory that the person looking to buy the gun must do a certain amount of training and practice to make sure that they are responsible to buy said firearm. A person who is suspected to have bipolar disorder and/or is likely suspected to have a severe mental illness that is undiagnosed would likely fail this type of test. 11 months ago
How can you be capable of shooting and killing that any people and living without any remorse without having some type of mental illness? And background checks aren't the only way of making it harder for certain types of people to legally buy guns. By the way, it is suspected that Stephen Paddock likely had a severe mental illness that went undiagnosed, and his doctor suspected he had bipolar disorder. 11 months ago

You're not gay, but you're not straight either. I don't even think you're bi. You are most likely pansexual, meaning that you are attracted to people regardless of their sex or gender identity and don't care what sex a person is. 1 year ago
Stricter background checks, those wanting to legally purchase guns must do more training first to confirm that they are responsible enough to own one, and also place stricter laws on the types of guns you can legally buy. I'm not saying we should completely ban firearms, I'm just saying we should make it a lot harder for the wrong types of people to get them. 1 year ago
By using that logic, we could also say that airport security is also making it harder for law abiding citizens to board planes. And the current amount of gun control is definitely not enough. If you disagree, take a look at what happened in Vegas in September. Or what happened in Florida a while ago. 1 year ago
Less biased. 1 year ago
Gun control is about REDUCING the overall amount of firearm-related crime and reducing the overall crime rate. No one would dispute that gun control completely stops crime. Only if you can guarantee that it will be born without any fatal birth defects or deformities. Because that's usually what happens if you try to keep a foetus alive in an incubator after removing it from the womb during the late second or early third trimester. 1 year ago
Or if the foetus is at a stage in which it can feel pain, eg the third trimester. But I doubt that anyone, even the most radical of Pro-Choice supporters, would agree with getting an abortion at that late in pregnancy. 1 year ago +1
I know a lot of Pro-Lifers are saying things like "If a woman decides to have unprotected sex, she should have to deal with the consequences!" but it's not always as simple as that. What about rape? Or inbreeding, in which the foetus is likely to be born with fatal birth defects? Or what if the life of the mother or foetus is in danger? With all that said, however, I'd like to state that I am not Pro-Choice, nor am I entirely Pro-Life. I believe that abortion is wrong, but it's unfair to say that abortion should be completely illegal in all circumstances. 1 year ago +2

You clearly didn't read what I said about macroevolution. You should do some more research before trying to disprove something that actually happened. 1 year ago
If microevolution is believed to be real in Christian doctrine, why can't other forms of evolution? When you say everything else, I assume you're talking about macroevolution, which is also true. For example, bird to reptile macroevolutions are the Eoraptor, Herrerasuarus, Compsognathus, Sinosauropteryx, Protarchaeopteryx, Velociraptor, Sinovenator, Beipiaosaurus, Sinornithosaurus, Microraptor, Caudipteryx, Rhaonavis, Confuciusornis, Sinornis, Patagopteryx, Hesperornis, Apsravis, Ichthyornis, and Columba. Reptile to mammal macroevolutions are the Pelycosauria, Therapsida, Cynodonta, Primitive mammalia, Morganucodon, Hadrocodium wui, Repenomamus, and Gobiconodon. Ape to human macroevolutions are the Pantroglodytes, Australopithecus africanus, Homo Habilis, Homo rudolfensis, Homo erectus, Homo ergaster, Homo heidelbergensis, Homo sapiens neanderthalensis, Homo sapiens, and Pezosiren portelli. 1 year ago
How does it show that there is a common creator? That's just an argument from ignorance. And to answer the original question, evolution in action has been observed, and evolution has changed some animals in certain ways that can't be explained by creationism. For example, during the Industrial Revolution, insects that were brightly coloured, such as wasps, hornets, bees, etc stood out against the ground and buildings which had been turned black from the soot and smoke in the air. This made them easy targets for predators. This is why some such insects at the time were born black or grey to blend in with the environment. This is also the case with chameleons. These sorts of things can't be explained by creationism. 1 year ago

God is talking to Moses in Mark 11:24, and he says, "Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. 24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." We've already established that he isn't omnipotent and didn't create the universe. And an afterlife is not comforting. What if you go to hell when you die? 1 year ago
It's isn't comfort, it's delusion. The concept of an afterlife was made up to make people feel better about death. On a different subject, option A in the question says, "out of absolutely nowhere". If that is true, then answer this: If nothing can come from nothing, how did God create the universe out of nothing? 1 year ago

You clearly don't know how the Big Bang works. This is a classic argument from ignorance. The Big Bang did not "come out of absolutely nowhere". The Big Bang was caused when a soup of chemicals such as protons, neutrons, electrons, etc formed together to make an atom. This atom expanded larger and larger, and then split up into more atoms, which became the planets and stars. The Big Bang is still happening today, as the universe is still expanding today. As I've said before, this question is an argument from ignorance- you can't understand or refuse to accept the Big Bang, so instead you just say "God did it". 1 year ago +4
I did look at the context. In Mark 11:23-24, God says that you will receive anything you ask for in prayer, regardless of what it is. He reiterates this in Matthew 7:7 and Matthew 17:20. 1 year ago

It just seems very weird and unusual to breastfeed a child between the ages of five and seven. Most children are breastfed from the ages 0-2 at most, possibly three. There are of course some children being breastfed older than that, perhaps at age four or five. There are even some rumours of children being breastfed as old as age eight, but I highly doubt this is true, and if it is, it's just plain wrong. In short, breastfeeding a child that is too old for it is controversial, weird, and like I mentioned, can be considered wrong by some standards. 1 year ago

One of the most common methods of dating fossils or whatever is to compare it to similar fossils of known ages. Absolute dating is used to determine a precise age of a fossil by using radiometric dating to measure the decay of isotopes (number of nucleons in its atoms), either within the fossil or more often the rocks associated with it. 1 year ago
The purpose of evolution is to make an animal better suited to its environment, and increase the animal's chances of survival. Giants from history weren't giant because of evolution, because they wouldn't need to become giants. In history, some people were taller than others, and maybe some were towering over fifteen feet, but this would have been exceptionally rare, if it happened at all. There's a very simple reason why some people were taller than others. It's because of mutation and corrupted DNA. If a very tall man reproduces with a very tall woman, then their son/daughter will also be very tall. In some cases, DNA has been corrupted and mutated, causing the offspring to become unusually short or unusually tall. In other words, giants didn't become giant because of evolution. 1 year ago

There are two problems with your theory: 1) Nowhere in the Bible does it say that. 2) In the Bible verses I mentioned in the question, God specifically promises to answer ALL prayers, regardless of what they are or how little faith you have when you do so. 1 year ago
All life on Earth evolved from a single organism. This organism divided into different pieces, a process known as cell division. These pieces split off into more pieces, and this process continued for a while. Over time, these pieces slowly changed (evolved) through genetic modification into more complex life forms. For example, it might have changed into bacteria, and then evolved into insects, and then evolved into small, four-legged animals, and so on. "Giants" has nothing to do with evolution, the reason why humans nowadays are taller than they were in the past is because we are better nourished and have better medicine and healthcare. 1 year ago
1) You're right, free will can't be proven or debunked. It's such an ill-defined concept which is why it's difficult to comprehend. 2) Ireland, as well as many other countries, has a democracy, and therefore, you could argue that a country like Ireland or wherever has more free will than somewhere like China or North Korea, which have dictatorships. However, the citizens of any country at all are bound by laws and rules, which can mean that we don't have free will. 3) Yes, that's true to a certain extent, however, if God created us, and he knows every single thing that will ever happen in our lives, and we don't have the power to change that, then we don't have free will. 4) Diseases and natural disasters were not caused by humans. 5) It does, because victims of evil didn't choose to be victims of evil, and if they didn't choose to do so, then they have no free will. 1 year ago
It doesn't matter if it helps us or not, God specifically promises to answer ALL prayers, regardless of what they are or how little faith we have. 1 year ago
We've already established that we don't have free will (https://www.rrrather.com/view/236458#comment4320517), but anyways, God supposedly already knows what we're going to do, so what's the point of watching over us if this is true? 1 year ago

1) That still doesn't mean that we have free will. 2) Yes, but true free will is being allowed to do anything you want without punishment. 3) If God knows everything that will happen to us, but for some reason decides not to interfere, then we have no free will. 4) God created the natural universe and everything in it.This means he also made diseases and natural disasters. 5) Yes it does, because it means that evil wasn't the result of humans' free will. 1 year ago

It is logically impossible for some things to exist in this world, even in the unknown. It is impossible for a circle to be triangular, or for two plus two to equal five. What sort of statement is that? There are many, many, many impossible things in this world, and I'm fairly certain that you know that, or you don't and you're just spouting out obvious lies in the hope that some gullible person will believe you. 1 year ago
He does have to help everyone. If he's omnipotent, then it should be no problem for him. 1 year ago
There are a lot of things we can't do, and there are a lot of things that are impossible, no matter how hard you work. If God's omniscient, he knows that all these things are impossible, and if he's telling us otherwise, then he's lying. 1 year ago

Well, big surprise, it doesn't. 1 year ago
Alright. Let's suppose you do have to confess your sins for your prayer to be answered. You confess your sins to God. You pick up a coin, and you are going to flip it fifty times. You pray to God that the coin will land on tails every single time. Of course, it will not work. If God was telling the truth, then why doesn't he answer the prayer? 1 year ago
A lot of things are impossible for us, so that statement is clearly false. 1 year ago

Omnipotence is paradoxical and impossible, therefore, God is not omnipotent. In Matthew 17:20 and Mark 9:23, God says that we are omnipotent. However, we clearly aren't. Either God was lying or he doesn't exist. 1 year ago
In Mark 9:23 and Matthew 17:20, God says that we are omnipotent. If this is the case, then why aren't all prayers answered? 1 year ago
It is actually a cornerstone of many religions that the universe is thousands of years old, rather than six days. And how could it have been created in six days? The Egyptian pyramids took twenty years to build. Can you imagine how long it would take to make a whole universe? If God was omnipotent, he would be capable of creating a whole universe in however much time he wants, but we've already established that he isn't omnipotent (https://www.rrrather.com/view/236394#comment4320294), which means that he couldn't possibly have made the universe in six days. 1 year ago

Just because everyone is guilty of some crime doesn't mean that they deserve to die. Someone who told a lie or jaywalked is clearly not on the same level as a murderer or whatever. And it's not right to kill someone just because they will die eventually. This is obvious to anyone. 1 year ago
If God is omnipotent, why wouldn't he have just brought everything into existence at once? If he's omniscient, he already knows what he wants to create, so he wouldn't have needed to spend any time designing the universe. 1 year ago
It is impossible for something to exist if it contradicts its own definition. The Christian God (as well as a few other Gods) is defined as being simultaneously omnipotent and omnibenevolent. However, it is impossible to be both omnipotent and omnibenevolent at the same time because an omnipotent being is capable of anything, good or evil, but an omnibenevolent being is only capable of good things, God contradicts his own definition, so he is like a square circle: Impossible to exist. 1 year ago
Discover the patterns of molecular evidence that make sense only if macroevolution has occurred. Many of the old inactive genes in our genome only makes sense if we have shared common ancestry with other creatures - i.e., we have evolved. And, of course, don't overlook the abundant fossil evidence, much of it pointing clearly to macroevolution. As we study the growing number of fossils, we find that they usually fit nicely into one group or another, and most of those groups clearly show gradual change over time, even phasing into new and different groups along the way, adding changes upon changes. Nevertheless, many of those earlier groups apparently had populations which continued to exist with very little change, producing the modern day representatives of those surviving groups. As a result, the picture painted by the fossils reveals an ongoing coexistence, of older more primitive forms continuing to live alongside the growing diversity of animals which they produced. However, most of those groups along the way apparently failed to survive in their original forms. They became extinct. But fortunately, some members of some of those groups were fossilized, and a few of those are found from time to time, giving us the hit-or-miss, very spotty record of fossils which has lead us to hypothesize that picture of a branched tree of being which we call evolution. New fossils are being found every day, helping to fill in some of the gaps, and those fossils continue to confirm and strengthen that picture of life through time with ever-increasing detail. 1 year ago +1
Macroevolution does happen and has been observed. Here are some notable examples: In 1905 a Ducth man found that some of his evening primroses, Oenothera lamarckiana, had developed a variant number of chromosomes that was not able to be bred with the original plant. The new species was then named Oenothera gigas. Here's another: A sterile hybrid of the primrose species Primula verticillata and primula floribunda were crossbred. The offspring were fertile, therefore showing macroevolution, and were named Primula kewensis. Here's another: An attempt by Russian scientist Karphchenko to cross a radish with a cabbage resulted initially in the creation of hybrid plant that was sterile. However, the seeds of those plants became fertile with the parent species, creating the new plant Raphanobrassica. If you want any more examples, just let me know, I'll be happy to provide them. I don't see how this is a "Question atheists and evolutionists can't answer". You should do some more research about macroevolution and evolution in general before bluntly asking questions. 1 year ago +2

God does kill innocent people. In the Quran, Hadith, Hewbrew Bible, and Christian New Testament, God destroyed the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah because he doesn't like how their inhabitants are just banging whomever they please. Or, at least, that's what most modern theists boil it down to. The problem with this story is that God just indiscriminately destroyed two whole cities full of people. It's made clear that only one family made it out alive. While it's safe to say that most of those cities' inhabitants were committing adultery and homosexuality, I find it very hard to believe that every single person in both of those cities deserved to die. What about the children, for example? I doubt there would have been many two-year-olds participating in gay orgies. Or what about when God inflicts plagues on Egypt? He did this as punishment against Pharaoh for not setting the Hebrews free. There are a few problems with this. Problem one: Exodus 4:21, KJV clearly states that God "hardened Pharaoh's heart" to keep him from letting them go, so it's not like Pharaoh even had a choice. Problem two: Plague inflicts thousands of innocent people. I find it hard to believe that everyone in the whole country at the time was a slave-owner. That plague would also have killed many firstborn children. And then, of course, there's all those stories in which God advocates the rape, enslavement, and genocide of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amalekites, etc. Numbers 31 blatantly describes Moses leading an attack on a Midianite city, killing the King, burning the city to the ground, stealing all their stuff, killing all the civilians including men, boys, and non-virgin women, but sparing young girls for themselves. Over half of this chapter is spent describing how they divided up the spoils, and this was all sanctioned by God. From this, we can conclude one thing: God does evil and kills innocent people. 1 year ago

A classic example of evidence of evolution is the variance of the ubiquitous (i.e. all living organisms have it, because it performs very basic life functions) protein Cytochrome c in living cells. The variance of cytochrome c of different organisms is measured in the number of differing amino acids, each differing amino acid being a result of a base pair substitution, a mutation. If each differing amino acid is assumed the result of one base pair substitution, it can be calculated how long ago the two species diverged by multiplying the number of base pair substitutions by the estimated time it takes for a substituted base pair of the cytochrome c gene to be successfully passed on. For example, if the average time it takes for a base pair of the cytochrome c gene to mutate is N years, the number of amino acids making up the cytochrome c protein in monkeys differ by one from that of humans, this leads to the conclusion that the two species diverged N years ago. 1 year ago
What would be the point of watching over us if he already knows everything we'll do? 1 year ago
I'm certain it says this in the New Testament as well. Also, the Old Testament is where some of the major parts of Christian theology first appeared, so they must follow the Old Testament to a certain extent. 1 year ago
The purpose of evolution is to make an animal better suited to the surrounding environment, and to increase the animal's chances of survival. Very few species today are still evolving, because they don't need to. Humans don't grow tails and fish don't grow legs because they don't need to. And to answer your question, we can see animals in the process of evolving. We humans began as the Hominidae family diverged from the Hylobatidae (gibbon) family some 15–20 million years ago; African great apes (subfamily Homininae) diverged from orangutans (Ponginae) about 14 million years ago; the Hominini tribe parted from the Gorillini tribe (gorillas) between 9 million years ago and 8 million years ago; and, in turn, the subtribes Hominina (humans and biped ancestors) and Panina (chimps) separated about 7.5 million years ago to 5.6 million years ago.[4] 1 year ago

It's rather complicated to answer this question everyone experienced sadness. Of course, people do have a choice and freedom but only to a limited degree. And I don't know really how would I call person who lost dear loved one and be completely happy about it. I guess pills could make it happen but it's not really a choice then. And then there are different levels of sadness - grief, sense of loss, despair and so on. And happiness itself isn't just a feeling you get - it can be internal and external. If it's external, a mere reaction to outside events, then I don't think you can really be happy all the time. If it's locus is internal, then I would say it is possible to feel sadness as a reaction to some sad event, but still be at peace and not falling in depression and despair. 1 year ago

Psalm 139:4 says so. 1 year ago

He can if he is omniscient. 1 year ago

Would you say that homosexuality is "fashionable" or "trendy"? 1 year ago
Homosexuality can be a choice. It can be described as a fashion because it is becoming increasingly popular around the world. 1 year ago
Maybe it's different in the Quran, but the Christian Bible says so. 1 year ago
As many others have already said, we dislike you because of your monotonous questions. I'm not trying to encourage you to leave, but making the same questions over and over again is obsessive. People want varied questions, not repetitive, easy-to-answer questions like the ones you make. 1 year ago
God told you to do so in Matthew 19:21-24. That's hardly "fake news". 1 year ago
It says so in Psalm 139:4, Psalm 147:4-5, and Job 37:16. 1 year ago

They believe in the Ten Commandments, right? They believe in Genesis, right? Well, guess what? They first appeared in the Old Testament. Christians, Muslims, and theists in general are so ready and willing to cherry-pick and quote parts of the Old Testament whenever it suits them. However, when an atheist quotes a part of the Old Testament that doesn't suit theists, they just say "Oh, we don't follow that part of the book". 1 year ago
As MustaKrakish said, it might be different in the Quran, but the Bible (Matthew 19:21-24) tells you to. 1 year ago
Once again, he did. It was in the Bible, as I've said in the question. 1 year ago
He DID say that in 1 Samuel 15:11. Look it up if you don't believe me. 1 year ago

Psalms 18:30 says God is omnibenevolent. Or, at least, that's what most modern Christians boil it down to. 1 year ago
But God is not omnipotent because it is in conflict with the idea that he is omnibenevolent. An omnipotent being would be capable of anything, which means that omnipotent being would be capable of both good and evil. However, an omnibenevolent being is only capable of good. God contradicts his own definition, so he can be neither omnipotent nor omnibenevolent. 1 year ago
For an animal to fully evolve takes millions, if not billions of years. These changes over time are very subtle and very hard to detect simply by looking at it. Not every animal evolves, creatures such as birds and reptiles haven't changed much for billions of years. This is because they haven't needed to evolve because they are fine the way they are. We don't see people with tails because something like that would very subtly change over millions or billions of years. Creatures are in the process of evolving, but these changes are very subtle and hard to detect, which is why it takes so long. And also, evolution in progress is noticeable. Thousands of years ago, women did not have permanent breasts. Blue eyes are also a relatively new trait. 1 year ago

This question is actually asking "How did God create the universe if there wasn't anything to make it from?" 1 year ago

Of course you can't answer this question. That's why this series of questions is called "Questions Christians can't answer". 1 year ago
Feeding offspring is not the sole purpose of breasts. Biologists have theorized that breasts are actually supposed to mimic a second ass on the body. Thousands of years ago, humans mated from behind, and the rear end was the most attractive part of a human. Breasts might have been used to mimic a second ass on the body, closer to the face. 1 year ago
So you're essentially saying that we should make it harder for law-abiding citizens to obtain firearms even if they don't have any malevolent intentions just on the off-chance that someone might steal it from them and use it to commit a crime? That's blaming people for something that is someone else's fault. It's like drilling some holes into the hull of a ship, trying to sail in it, and then blaming the ship when it starts to sink. 1 year ago +1
Very surprised this almost tied. 1 year ago +1
Sandy Hook occurred because Adam Lanza was mentally unstable, and stole a gun from a relative. That's the thing most anti-gunners seem to be ignoring: The firearms used for shootings are mostly either stolen or illegally purchased. Shootings in England and France are good examples of this. 1 year ago

Not only does this video feature nudity, but it is of a woman breastfeeding a four-year-old. Correct me if I'm wrong, but four years old seems far too old to be breastfed. It just seems very weird. 1 year ago
Very few men can actually lactate, and milk made from man's nipples is different to breast milk from a woman. 1 year ago

But we can't have grace if we live under law, which we do. 1 year ago
If the Bible is the word of God, then everything in it must be the teachings and opinions of God. So, if the Bible says God is omniscient (which it does), then he must be. I don't see how this is "impossible to understand", if God says he is all-knowing, then why does he make a test if he's already going to know its outcome? 1 year ago
No. 1 year ago
There is evidence of the Big Bang because we have recently discovered gravitational waves, which would only have existed if the universe had been expanding for billions of years. There is evidence of evolution because of something called comparative anatomy. The forelimbs of such animals as humans, porpoises, bats, and other creatures are strikingly similar, even though the forelimbs are used for different purposes. Similar forelimbs have similar origins, and their origins can be traced back to a single point, because all life on Earth originates from a single organism. 1 year ago +2

I find the "We live under grace" argument to be false. Let's say I'm driving down a highway that has a speed limit of eighty mph at a hundred and thirty mph. An officer pulls me over and says "You were going 130 mph .I was thinking of giving you a ticket but I will just let you go.” Would that be grace? No! There was no speed limit. So what would I need their grace for? If there is no law I don’t need grace. I can’t break a law that is not there. The fact that we need grace tells me there is still a law. 1 year ago

When I said "nudity" I obviously meant human nudity, which is banned on YouTube. 1 year ago

If by "Where did the big bang come?" you mean "What caused the big bang?", there were chemicals like protons, neutrons, and electrons in the air at the time, these chemicals combined together to form a single atom. This single atom expanded larger and larger to from the universe as we know it today. We are sure that the Big Bang happened because we have discovered gravitational waves, which would only have existed if they had been expanding for billions of years. 1 year ago

Everyone at the time had faith, because anyone who didn't was burned to death in public. And also, if healing the sick is this easy, then why have put so much time, money, and manpower into the healthcare system? 1 year ago
This world came from the Big Bang. 1 year ago
Yeah, that's probably a good idea. 1 year ago
God did make life a test to see who is good and bad. "God" is such an ill-defined concept, which is why we can't comprehend it. However, the Christian God is described by numerous sources as being omniscient (all-knowing). The real question is why did God make a test if he already knows its outcome? 1 year ago
Evolution and the Big Bang did occur, scientists discovered this after years of research. There is, however, no evidence at all to prove that God exists. 1 year ago +2
Of course we don't love our enemies, vengeance and punishment are part of human nature. However, God himself instructed us to love our enemies, so why isn't he doing it himself? 1 year ago
If God was omnipotent or omnibenevolent he would prevent all the evil and injustices in the world, and if he was omniscient he would know about the differences created by humans, and would have done something about it. 1 year ago

Doesn't Luke 6:27-36 tell you to love your enemies? If God killed two cities full of people, most of which had done something wrong, then he's breaking his own rules because he's not loving his enemies. 1 year ago
So your logic is that every human is on the same level? the President is on the same level as a starving person living in poverty in Ethiopia? And if God really was all-loving, he would care about us. 1 year ago
God supposedly made life as a test to see who is good and who is bad, who will go to heaven and who will go to hell. The point of this question was what is the point of a test if God already knows its outcome? 1 year ago
That's like saying police officers have the right to break laws because they enforce them. Just because you made rules doesn't mean you can't break them. 1 year ago
Indiscriminately killing thousands of innocent people is not benevolent by anyone's standards. 1 year ago
He couldn't. If God was all-loving, he would want to help everyone, so why would he withhold vital information that could save lives from them? 1 year ago
. One of them is incorrect because it was written by humans. 1 year ago
No, it doesn't make me sad. The concept of an afterlife was designed to comfort people about death. 1 year ago
If it worked that way, God would have specified which illnesses could be cured using this method and which can't. 1 year ago
