    'Book smarts' don't prepare you for everyday living within your local environment. How to act or assimilate into unfamiliar surroundings or how to understand and negotiate with those around you. Street smarts prepare you for the dangers that lurk that maybe 'common sense' doesn't always prepare you with. Unless you utilize book smarts daily I believe street smarts to be inherently more useful.

    This is coming from a person with book smarts. I wish I had street smarts. While being knowledgeable about important things is great, you survive because you know how to out of street smarts. Reading about building a fire or hunting won't actually get you anywhere.
