I don't see the problem with gay marraige. Why are do many people against it? I'm straight and I still think illegalizing it would be an abomination.

No one should be legally recognized just for being in love. What purpose does marriage even serve? It's just a legal contract.

Regardless whether or not, you have a ceremony or have a church endorse it, marriage is a legal contract between people which is enforceable by government that grants them the rights, obligations and benefits of being recognized as one entity between them, between them and their children, and between them and their in-laws and between them and other third parties. Freedom to choose who you marry just happens to be one of those rights. The government doesn't give rights it's responsibility it to protect rights. By having marriage between homosexual marriage recognized as legal and protected by the government, including the right to decide to marry whomever you chose, the government is only fulfilling it responsibility to the all the people it governs. And too anyone who may try to say that the freedom to choose who you may marry is not a right of all marriage, here proof that it is, when a man marries a women they are not forced to be married by any outside party to that marriage and are not forced to stay in that marriage, they made the choice of their own free will, the government protects that choice by the fact that those and all rights, and privileges of that marriage are protected and enforcible in a court of law. And this is true regardless if one or both parties of that marriage are "sinners." Example: A man is a thief and a woman is a slut. Both would be "sinners" but the government does not deny them the right to get choose to get married and protects all the rights and benefits of that marriage. That is why A husband or wife cannot be forced to testify in court against the other, since they are considered one entity the right to remain silent applies.
