    I am a pokemon fan, but you ask me only to play original games and i will go to FF. Hack roms, showdown and nuzlocke challenges make me go for pokemon. Pokemon difficulty is ridiculously small. You need to limit captures, levels, randomize trainers and even your pokemon moves to be difficult. Or play Kaizo Emerald, Renegade Platinum , Fire Red Omega, etc which are fangames. Competitively, the thing is different
